The rotary switch on my 2003 PRS custom 22 recently died and due to the guitar being one of my main Instruments I needed It repaired for a gig coming up in Ireland. As replacing the rotary was not an ideal option, I decided to install a freeway switch (they are brilliant) that retained the 5 position and split coils sounds that the guitar previously did which I needed for the band’s set. As I am reasonably handy, I had a go at rewiring the guitar with the new switch but the job was simply beyond my skill level and as PRS had a odd number of wires from each pickup which I found impossible to configure I gave up after several frustrating evenings. As a last resort I contacted Andy who was very helpful and rewired the guitar for me at a very reasonable price with an incredibly fast turnaround. Without his assistance and professionalism, the guitar would still be an ornament on the stand and would not be making that trip to Ireland ! Many thanks Andy a great job well done.

Gibson guitar model 335 purchased new in year 2000. I met Andy De Looze through the bass player in our local Church Band. From new my guitar had not been set up correctly and was not playing to its full potential. I took my Martin D28 to Really Great Guitars on the recommendation of a friend. The guitar had several problems but the one which bugged me most was a persistent buzz. Andy (the owner) asked me to play something and then took a good look at the instrument himself, which resulted in me leaving it with him (it was beyond a quick fix). I said he could keep it for a couple of weeks if necessary. In fact he messaged me the following afternoon to say it was ready.

It was like a different instrument. It looked better (it was covered in sweat marks which he had successfully removed), it felt better (the action was greatly improved and he’d polished the frets and fretboard) but, most important of all, it played much better - oh and the buzz had gone. He’d also straightened a bent machine head which I’d not noticed. All this at what I thought was a very fair price. Based on this experience I would recommend Really Great Guitars repair service to anyone and I will happily go to Andy when I need work on my instruments (I have several) in future. Last point… I found him really easy to discuss the guitar’s problems with.

I heard about Andy when another guitarist friend recommended him to me while I was complaining about the intonation on my Gretsch. After contacting Andy, I took the Gretsch to Andy’s workshop and left it with him. A few days later, Andy had pinned the floating bridge, and serviced all the pots, socket and switch. It was a superb result; to such a degree, I took the Gretsch back for Andy to successfully fit a fantastic pair of TV Jones pick ups! And just last week, Andy has repaired and fully serviced my precious Fender Strat. Both guitars are transformed - and it’s all been done for a truly reasonable price. I was recommended to Andy; I now thoroughly recommend him to anyone.

Hi everyone, just had my Blueridge 160A back from www.reallygreatguitars.com(Andy De Looze) and I'm over the moon, he dressed the frets, set the neck and adjusted the bone pins to sit better then recut the bone nut to help the action, and then included a good clean and polish. All at a very reasonable price. Its nice to find a luthier with care, experience and commitment. Andy is a joy to work with. I’ve been coming to him for a while now with all my problems and he is patient and helpful and takes the time to explain all the work he’s done. He always has time for you, no matter how big or small the problem is. I’ve had a few small silly issues which he’s sorted on the spot and also a fairly major one too. You know that you can take your pride and joy to him and it will be in the safest of hands. I bought an ES-335 off him a few months ago and when I was busking a few hours from home the wind blew it over and the headstock snapped. I called him on the spot and brought it straight to him. He reassured me everything would be alright (I needed that at the time) and even asked when I next needed it for a gig. The repair is immaculate, and it plays just as well. And it was done in less than a week. I can’t recommend Andy highly enough. A true pro. I’m so glad to have a luthier I can trust with the guitars I use to earn my living.
