A Triumphant Revival Of A Classic Design
With the introduction of the PAF (Patent Applied For) humbucker during 1957, Gibson changed the sonic soundscape for guitarists forever.
Gone was the infamous 60 cycle hum associated with Single Coil pickups, and in its place was a much richer tone that could be played at higher volumes – paving the way for louder, more aggressive guitar styles.
These pickups replaced the P-90s on the Les Paul, soon establishing the guitar as a must-have for players the world over.
Rock-Solid Construction
The new Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s lineup has been constructed to evoke the spirit of those original PAF-laden guitars – both physically and tonally.
Featuring a solid mahogany back, with a Tobacco Burst-finished maple top piece, this guitar naturally produces the thick, harmonically-rich tone historically associated with the Les Paul.
In addition to this, there’s a solid Mahogany neck, capped with a trapezoid block-inlaid Rosewood fretboard, attached via the traditional set-in construction method. This neck also has a vintage 50s-style profile, for that comfortable, rock-solid feel.
Exquisite Tone
Gibson’s original PAF (Patent Applied For) humbuckers are amongst the most coveted ever made.
With the BurstBucker 1 and BurstBucker 2 combination on this Les Paul Standard guitar, you get one of the closest approximations to this elusive tone yet.
These vintage-sounding pickups offer you the choice between that vintage, creamy neck pickup sound, and the hotter, biting bridge tones.
Each of these pickups has independent Volume and Tone controls, opening up a whole world of vintage voices for you to choose from.
