Here we have a stunning & new 2021 Les Paul Standard 50s in Heritage Cherry. This was our display model & as such, we chose the nicest looking burst that we could find. The fact that it was our display model is reflected in the lower price. There is not a mark on the guitar, she is set up to perfection & pristine.
The neck has been carved to a popular 50’s style profile that is certainly chunky but is extremely comfortable in the hands so even those with smaller hands should be fine. Every part of this neck has been carefully constructed to match up with the standards that were set so many years ago including the 1-11/16″ width that is so popular.
The body of this model has zero weight relief, a bonus for Les Paul aficionados, some who believe the drill holes used by Gibson to remove the heft of a solid mahogany body, take with them some of the tone. Alas, Gibson has listened to those who are after a ‘full fat’ Les Paul, and have delivered exactly that.
A point of contention, some believe that the chambered body of newer Les Pauls can have a thinner tone than what you would expect to get from a Les Paul. This model has none of that! This mahogany body has zero weight relief giving you the ‘full fat’ Les Paul tone so many desire. But make sure your shoulder is ready for the heft!
Differing from the ’50s Standard Les Paul, the burstbucker 61R and 61T pickups selected for this model offer a little more heat and sizzle. With this guitar, you’ll be suited to playing Blues, Crunchy Rock, and great sustained leads. It sounds wonderful!
