Here we have a really very clean,1971 Marshall Artistè 2040 2×12 50w combo. It is a loud combo for its 50w. Story has it that these were introduced as competition to the likes of the Fender twin Reverb & as such are quite clean with no master volume/gain which was quite controversial for Marshall, but that makes them all the more rare now! It has a superb creamy tone with bags of headroom and if cranked high, it really has all that Marshall ‘Pure Grit’ that we all come to expect! It has the original tag board, rather than the printed circuit boards that replaced them in 1973, so this is the real ‘Hand Wired’ deal. Apart from the speakers, It is in all original condition The cabinet is fitted with 2×12′ Celestion G-100 speakers, which I assume were installed in the 80’s. It comes with it’s original Reverb on/off footswitch & it has just been re-valved & fully serviced.

These are being advertised for anything up to and above £2,000, so at our price, it’s more than competitive!

These combos were the staple diet of players such as Hendrix back in the day & are extremely hard to get hold of, particularly in this condition.

Besides being just a superb amp, this is a real piece of  hand wired valve history.

The 2040 ‘Artist’ reverb 50 watt combo has two channels with two inputs per channel. Each channel has separate bass, treble, and volume controls, channel one having Hammond Reverberation. Presence controls governs both channels.
