This ES-335 Takes You Back to 1963

Are you a Black Crowes fan? Then you’ve probably heard Rich Robinson’s vintage 1963 Gibson ES-335. When he lost his precious semi-hollowbody in a flood, he went to Gibson and asked them to build him a guitar to the same vintage original specs. The resulting VOS instrument was so outstanding, Gibson is producing a limited edition of 500 worldwide! The Rich Robinson 1963 ES-335 gives you a fast SlimTaper neck with a slightly wider-than-standard nut. A pair of Burstbuckers serve up a banquet of classic tone, while a Bigsby tailpiece delivers the vibe. Topped off with a luscious, aged cherry nitro finish, the Gibson Memphis Rich Robinson 1963 ES-335 is a sight and sound to behold.

This beautiful pre-owned example is number 469 from a limited run of 500 pieces & is in mint condition. Highlighting her VOS finish, she plays blisteringly well & the Burstbucker pickups have that lovely almost single coil tone to them, which allows for a wide array of tonal variations. She comes with her COA Certificate & original brown plush lined Gibson case.

You will be hard pushed to get a better used example anywhere!

Burstbucker pickups deliver monumental tone and sustain

The Gibson Memphis Rich Robinson 1963 ES-335 is equipped with two of the best humbucking pickups Gibson has ever produced – Burstbuckers – which replicate the classic tone of vintage “PAF” humbuckers, complete with tight low-end, complex midrange, and sweet treble. The Burstbucker 1 sports slightly underwound coils, for medium output – perfect in the neck position of this guitar. The Burstbucker 2 at the bridge is wound closer to Gibson’s ’57 Classic ‘bucker, with a slightly hotter output that’s ideal for thick, soaring leads.

Hand-crafted Gibson Custom quality gives you a one-of-a-kind instrument

Gibson’s Custom Shop took extra care with every detail of the Rich Robinson 1963 ES-335. Every Gibson Custom guitar receives an ultra-precise Plek Pro setup, which optimizes the fretboard and results in incredibly accurate intonation. And cool touches like a genuine Bigsby vibrato and the incredible finish on this guitar not only sound and look great, they remain true to Gibson’s heritage as one of America’s premier musical instrument brands.

Nitrocellulose lacquer finish enhances tone and looks incredible

The Gibson Memphis Rich Robinson 1963 ES-335 wears a gorgeous aged nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Guitar gurus would point out that nitro finishes – standard back in the day – are significantly thinner than today’s polyurethane finishes, allowing the instrument to “breathe.” Nitro finishes not only look authentically vintage – they also enhance the instrument’s tonal qualities.
