Here we have a lovely example of this rare & early G&L guitar. The Broadcaster was Leo Fender’s first take on the Telecaster with his new company G&L. Production started in 1985 and a total of 869 were produced before a cease and desist letter from Gretsch forced the name to be changed to ASAT, which is still in production. The Broadcaster featured a familiar T-style body shape with a pair of large MFD single coil pickups, black finish with matching headstock, black hardware, either a maple or ebony fretboard and hardtail bridge.

The overall condition is very good, with no breaks or repairs anywhere & it is in all original condition, with less than the expected play-wear of a guitar of this age. The neck & ebony board are real a joy to play & the MFD pickups are zingy & powerful. It also has a great action & perfect intonation.

All in all, this guitar just feels kinda right in your hands, it has a good balanced weight Comes with its ‘Hand Signed & Dated’ neck pocket inspection label which has been carefully mounted in a separate display frame. Comes with its G&L moulded case which is in excellent condition.

The Broadcaster, is the most well known and highly collectable G&L, was the brainchild of Dale Hyatt. Mr. Hyatt designed and marketed this highly sought after G&L in 1985 as a marketing strategy to increase sales and distribution. Mr. Fender signed a dated sticker that went inside the neck pocket to prove that the guitar was authentic and built by G & L. And as mistakenly reported on many websites, the G&L Broadcaster was highly successful not because of Leo Fender signing each guitar in the neck pocket, but rather because of the pure quality of the guitar itself.
